1. Seating Chart by alpha order--students must communicate to put themselves in order!
2. Set up Spiral/Expectations Sheet in binder
3. NOTES:  Literary Lexicon (p. 1) Review terms with a partner and star any unfamiliar terms 
4. WARM-UP: Joke of the day!  Set up the format:
     Q: Why did the teacher visit the optometrist?
     A:  She just couldn't control her pupils!
           MM: Pupil--student/part of eye/homograph
     Pun: Joke using multiple meaning words for humor
     Homograph:  same writing
     Homophone: same sound
